Too Much Diego
October 26, 2007Micah came running in the door all out of breath this afternoon and said,
“Mommy, come quick! I heard a noise, and it sounds like a cow in trouble.”
It is now clear to me that he has been watching entirely too much “Go Diego Go”.
kids
October 24, 2007Not much going on around here… so I will share some funny things Micah and Brody are saying these days….
Yesterday, in the kitchen, standing in a chair, eye level with me, Brody said, “Get candy bar, Brody, NOW MOMMY!”
A couple of days ago when I was telling Micah that what he was saying was not true, he said, “But I read it in the newspaper, and newspapers tell the truth, so it IS true.” I said, “Uh, Micah, you can’t read.” He said, “Well, if I could read, that’s what it would have said.”
When my Mom was watching the boys, they were fighting over a toy or something, and she was telling Micah that he was older, and he needed to use his words not his hands, and he looked at her and said, “Well, what if my words told you to shut up.”
blessed
October 22, 2007I am, blessed that is. Over the past two weeks I have talked to so many people who seem to say just the right thing, at just the right time. One minute I hear, ‘I know how you are, and how you hate people thinking you are weak, so I waited a while to call, so you wouldn’t get so stressed out.’ And at the time she was so right. The next day I hear, ‘ Okay, well, let me know if you want me to go with you to your appointment.’ And I have never heard anything so self-sacrificing that I almost take her up on it. I am surrounded by people who know me. Friends who don’t just pretend to care, ones who are constantly giving me what I need without even knowing they are doing it. I am blessed indeed.
Update
October 19, 2007So I don’t want this to turn into a medical blog…. but I figured I better put an update out there.
Blood tests came back, my CRP (c-reactive protein) test came back elevated. My ’score’ was 8.8 ml/L, anything above 5.0 is considered high. My ANA (anti-nuclear antibodies) test also produced a POSITIVE score. (which in essence, is negative for me!) The ANA titer was 1:320. For those of you who don’t really know what any of this means, I didn’t either, and it still doesn’t show much. These are tests to narrow down what is going on with my body. Right now they are leaning toward SLE (Lupus). And I go to see a rheumatologist at the University of Iowa Hospital on Monday morning. That’s all I got for now….
They will use anything.
October 17, 2007Today, Micah was chasing Brody around the house with something, and Brody was terrified. When I finally caught up to them and asked what said object of attack was, it was….
a hair.
Micah kept telling Brody he was going to put it in his mouth. And since we all know how gross it is to have a hair in your mouth, this tourture worked like a charm.
The E.R.
October 14, 2007Where I spent most of my Saturday afternoon.
I came out with a shot in my hip, less four viles of blood, and a prescription for a ridiculous amount of steroid.
The verdict? Who knows. They think it may be an arthritic reaction, or a reaction to Lupus. Blood work will be back next week. They apologized for not knowing what is wrong with me. See, this is why I don’t go to the doctor.
